Luís Cardoso graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the former Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal, and obtained a master’s degree in Tropical Veterinary Medicine from the same school. He received his PhD and habilitation title in Veterinary Sciences from the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD), in Vila Real, Portugal. He is currently professor of Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases at the Department of Veterinary Sciences, School of Agrarian and Veterinary Sciences, UTAD. Apart from being an EVPC diplomate and EBVS® European Veterinary Specialist in Parasitology, Luís is also a member of the LeishVet association and of ESCCAP Portugal, and an invited member of the CVBD® World Forum. His major study interests are protozoal and vector-borne diseases of domestic and wild animals.
